The Houston Symphony announces auditions for Substitute and Extra Musicians for the following instruments:

Horn – October 20, 2011; 1:30PM

Bassoon and Contrabassoon – October 21, 2011; 1:30PM

(A 5-month contract, January – May 2012 for Contrabassoon may be offered at this audition)

Flute and Piccolo – November 9, 2011; 1:30PM

Percussion – November 10, 2011; 10:00AM

Clarinet and Bass Clarinet – November 12, 2011; 3:00PM

Trombone and Bass Trombone – November 19, 2011; 2:00PM

All Auditions will be held onstage at Jones Hall.  Interested candidates should submit a one-page resume to be received in our offices on or before 2 weeks prior to the audition date. Candidates may audition for either primary and/or auxiliary instruments where applicable. Audition repertoire will also be posted (when available) on the web at: www.houstonsymphony.org. The Houston Symphony tunes to A=442. The audition committee reserves the right to dismiss any candidate not meeting the highest artistic standards.
